I just got the chance to interview Lorrie Thomas, founder of Web Marketing Therapy. This is a great site that you should check out if you’re doing any business online. Now, on to the interview:
Q: What is your name, the name of your company and when did you start it?
A: Lorrie Thomas, Web Marketing Therapy, founded 2005
Q: What was the motivation behind your company?
A: To empower professionals with tools to think about implementing healthy marketing so they get wealthy! We help professionals put all the pieces of the web marketing puzzle together so marketing clicks!
Q: How long did it take you to earn a profit from your business?
A: 6 months
Q: What significant obstacles (if any) have you faced & how did you overcome them?
A: My biggest obstacle is being a chronic perfectionist. I still suffer from this but I move past it my reminding myself that sometimes DONE is better than perfect
I also prioritize with the 10-10-10 rule. Does it matter in ten minutes, ten months or ten years? Then I prioritize.
Q: Did you ever feel like just giving up at times? If so, what keeps you going?
A: I am human, so yes, of course! I have moments where I want to give it up and stop but what keeps me going are the WONDERFUL clients, students and colleagues I am committed to serving. They inspire me daily. The peoples I surround myself with are such passionate professionals and it is a pleasure partnering with them! The remarkable people I get to meet is what keeps me going and makes me love my job.
Q: What qualities (i.e., family support, discipline, time management) do you think are necessary for a women entrepreneur?
A: Women entrepreneurs succeed when they don’t settle. Women tend to be over-compromisers and in business, that is unacceptable. The women I serve and support are ones who think big, get what they pay for and know what they want.
Q: What is the one thing (book, website, coach, tool, blog, service, etc) that you value and can say has contributed to your success?
A: Giving away my expertise is what pays my bills. I know that sounds weird, but the more I give away in my www.webmarketingtherapy.com blog, writing for other sites and giving away tons of tips when I speak or get media interviewed works!
Q: What is your favorite quote, saying, Proverb, or scripture?
A: I swear by the book the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Never make assumptions, be impeccable with your word, never take anything personally and always do your best. I make my whole team read this book – the tips serve me personally and professionally.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in business or thinking about taking the leap into entrepreneurship?
A: Ask for help. The most dangerous words are “I KNOW THAT” and that is what makes us weak. We don’t know all the answers and we are nothing without each other. Do what you do best, and pay others to do the rest. Learn, expand your wealth bank and don’t try to go it alone.
Q: What are a few goals for you or your business this year?
A: Work Less, Play More (a team that plays well together works well together!)
and continue to shift our marketing agency focus to education to offer recession-proof marketing solutions.
BIO: Please briefly tell us about yourself, your family, where you live, pets, hobbies, inspirations, etc.
