A Very Real Day…

In my last post I talked about turning those garbage negative thoughts into Jewels, and today, guess what?  I really got to practice exactly what I coach.  Some people seem to think that just because I’m a coach I don’t have those very Real Days like everyone else!  Well, I’m here to tell you I do.

Today I felt pretty blah.  A major storm rolled through Dallas last night and all morning, the power was fluctuating, one dog was freaking out, I didn’t get much sleep, I wasn’t able to do the marketing I’d planned to do this morning, I was looking at another project of cleaning up all the leaves, twigs and branches in the yard, and it just started off to be a blah kind of day.  I’m sure you can relate!  If not, are you really human? ☺

So, how does this relate to your brain? Well in Brain BootCamp we’ve been talking about managing your thoughts and your brain.  It becomes a choice, a decision that I get to make as to how long I want to stay in the state that I’m in… how long I want to have those thoughts of blah!

As a coach, fortunately these are all conscious thoughts and I know exactly where I am and have the ability to pull myself “out” any time I choose.   And, you can do this to!

When you’re in a funk or a blah mood or angry or sad, you get to decide just exactly how long you will stay in that state.  If you need to stay there for a period of time then set the clock.  Seriously, set the clock and decide exactly how long you plan to stay that way.  And then, when the time’s up, Move ON! Get on with it!  Go do something different.  Change your physical location (we’ll talk more about why that works later on) and go for a walk or go to another room.  You really can make it just that Easy!

Remember folks, this isn’t rocket science, it’s just a little Brain BootCamp!
