The Joys of Being a Mom

I’ve always enjoyed being a mom and couldn’t imagine what my life would be

like without my three kids. They are now at an age where they need mom but they don’t need mom. They don’t need me to wipe their butt. They don’t need me to spoon feed them. They don’t need me to bathe them.

However, they now need me in more grown up ways. They need me for advice on how to handle a situation. They need me for comfort when they’ve been wronged or are disappointed. And, at times, they need me to just be there to listen without saying a word.

The last 21-years have gone by so fast since I brought home my first baby

girl. I’m not supermom and I’ve certainly made mistakes along the way, however I’ve enjoyed every trial and error along the way. Plus, all three of my kids have turned out to be pretty good, so I’ve must have done something right.

In honor of Mother’s Day, which is just around the corner, I’ve put together some way to enjoy being a mom.

♥ Every Mother’s Day, have a picture taken with your kids. Get a shoebox (of course, you must get those new shoes you love in order to do this…just sayin’) and keep the pictures and mementos of various items throughout the year inside your box. Then next Mother’s Day, take out your box and go through it with your kids. I guarantee you’ll create moments to cherish for years to come.

♥ Do something special with you and kids. For my daughters and me, we love going to get pedicures together. We have one favorite place that we go to for our pedicures and we make it a habit to go as often as we can. During our pedicures, the cell phones are turned off and life’s problems remain outside. It’s simply girl time!

♥ Bake something together, even if the kids are small. It is no secret that I cannot cook nor do I have any business being in the kitchen. But, we do enjoy eating cookie dough and licking the spoons from a cake mix. The messier the kitchen the more fun we’ve had. (after the fun is when I call hubby in to do the baking, otherwise it’s not editable).

♥ Watch movies together. There’s nothing I love more than to snuggle up with my kids and watch movies. I enjoy rubbing their faces or combing their hair with my fingers. It’s those tender moments that last forever.

The best part of being is a mom are the hugs and the “I love you’s” for no particular reason other than just being Mom!

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Kelli, What beautiful girls (and sister) you have! Thanks for the great suggestions. I’ve tried to some of these and other similar ones. It’s so important to do things with your kids. Thanks for sharing this!

    Blessings…Lynn
